Christmas is around the corner and the smells inside the house is so comforting. The smell of cinnamon, cloves, honey, various dough, etc. is making an incredible atmosphere; melomakarona, kourabiedes, Christopsoma, diples, and everything else that every home has a tradition of making for Christmas. So my suggestion today is just that: the smell of Christmas, a Christmas simmer pot (potpourri) with the most beautiful smell of the year. 😉
What is a simmer pot
Actually, a simmer pot is a pot with water and various ingredients, such as spices, fruits, herbs, etc., let simmer even all day, filling the house with unique smells.
Christmas simmer pot does the same job as a candle, but it is made by your own hands and in addition it fills the whole house with a special warmth. It is also very important that you know exactly the ingredients you have used, so no more “strange” chemicals.
You can change the “recipe” every day, using whatever your mood takes, even orange peels or other fruits, or fruits that are about to spoil. I cut them so nicely for the photo shoot, but you will put in your pot whatever you have on hand.
Tip: By replacing fresh fruit with dried, you make a very nice gift for friends and family. 😉
