    Green Tea, Grape & Peach Smoothie

    Such a smoothie a day keeps the doctor away!!! This smoothie with green tea, grape and peach is a real dynamite of antioxidants, vitamins and fiber. Add it to your summer diet, and give a blessing to your body.

    Recently, we talked about the benefits of green tea and peach. As for the grape, it has nothing to envy from the other two ingredients. It is rich in potassium and vitamins A, B and C, while its  skin contains the precious physical ingredient resveratrol, an antioxidant found in the skin of red and black grapes and is what has made the red wine famous as a  beneficial for the heart. Grapes also have anti-aging, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. Resveratrol also has neuroprotective functions and helps Alzheimer’s patients, improving memory.

    It also contains:

    Flavonoids, also known as vitamin P, besides cardioprotective effect, are used to treat various infections.

    Quercetin: protects the body against cardiovascular disease and cancer.

    Grapes also enhances estrogen levels, fights germs, increases the absorption of zinc, resulting in faster healing, better taste and smell, helps digestion and sexual potency, prevents hypertension, inhibits prostatic hypertrophy.

    More specifically they have:

    Anti-inflammatory action:  inhibits the release of histamine and prostaglandins, which are responsible for inflammation.

    Antiallergic activity: allergy sufferers reported significant relief using grape extract.

    Antiulcer action: The bioflavonoids help heal ulcers by reducing histamine release.

    Protective action:  1-2 glasses of red wine during meals have a protective effect against heart disease. The bioflavonoids protect cellular DNA from oxidative damage.

    Ameliorative effect: people taking bioflavonoids often report to have improved mental clarity.

    Grapes content of 80-85% water, are rich in fiber and are low in calories, making them ideal as a snack. Water and fiber also help in chronic constipation.

    Green Tea, Grape & Peach Smoothie

    Preparation time: 5 minutes

    Servings: 2

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup green grapes, seedless
    • ½ cup peach, peeled and cut into quarters
    • ½ cup ice cubes
    • ¾ cup boiled green tea
    • 1 teaspoon stevia (or another sweetener of your choice)

    Instructions:

    1.  Prepare the green tea and add a teaspoon of stevia. Allow to cool slightly.
    2.  In a blender add grapes, peach, ice and green tea and blend until smooth.
    3. A few grape skins might have been left, so if you want,  strain the juice before drinking.
