This recipe is dedicated to all those who are on a diet, striving to lose weight, or to those who faithfully follow a healthy diet. It is a ideal for those moments when you desperately seek for chocolate, but want to stay loyal to your diet. This dessert is the replacement of chocolate mousse, with far fewer calories and furthermore, it contains chia seeds with their well-known properties.
This chocolate dessert contains simple ingredients, it is made quickly and most importantly it contains many nutrients. No need to eat a large portion, a small amount will fill you. Of course, those of you who are on a diet, do not overdo it! Yes it is skinny, but it is not completely innocent! So be careful!
As for those of you who eat freely, maybe this does not satisfy you. Certainly the flavor of the original cannot be replaced. But what can we do .. and those on a diet need our attention!
Have in mind that if you replace the milk with almond milk, or coconut milk, you have a lovely vegan dessert.
Preparation and waiting time: 1 hour and 5 minutes
Servings: 2-3
Ingredients:
- 1 cup cold milk, 2% fat (or almond milk, or coconut milk)
- ¼ cup chia seeds
- 5 prunes, pitted
- 2-3 tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- 1-2 tbsp honey, or, agave syrup, to taste
Instructions:
- Add all ingredients in blender and mix.
- Now you have two options: Either you put the mixture in the bowls where you will serve it and leave in the fridge for an hour until it thickens, or move the blender bin in the fridge, wait one to two hours and then blend again to make it more smoother. Then you have to put it back in the refrigerator for another hour. The taste will be the same whichever way you choose. Only your eyes will tell the difference. The longer you leave it in the fridge, the smoother the mixture will come afterwards.
Notes:
I followed the first method, you see I could not wait … I had to photograph it and taste it!
The cold milk will thicken the mixture quicker.
If the plums you have are quite dehydrated and dry, put them in water for 30 minutes.
If you do not like prunes you can replace them with dates.
You can decorate it with various dried fruits such as cranberries, prunes, goji berries, candied ginger, etc. You can also use grated coconut, various nuts, or candies, as I did.
I hope you enjoy this skinny chocolate dessert!
