Are you looking for a low calorie strawberry jam? Do you want a strawberry jam without the time consuming process of cooking the fruits and the sugar over and over again, until it thickens? You have it! Low calorie strawberry jam, ready in 5 minutes! I’m sure you will love it. Just because the fruit does not boil, it’s like eating it fresh . You only need three ingredients to make it. Keep in mind that one of the three materials are the magical Chia seeds, with their remarkable properties. I used fresh strawberries, but you can use with frozen fruits as well. Now that strawberries are at their best season, buy some extra pounds, divide them into zip bags and keep them in the freezer. Thus, you will have strawberries for the juices and whatever else you want, for a long time.
Strawberry Jam with Chia Seeds
Ingredients
- 300gr (10 1/2 oz.) fresh or frozen strawberries
- 3 tbsp Chia Seeds
- 3-4 tbsp honey, agave syrup, or, any other sweetener of your choice. (taste it. in case you want the jam sweeter, add some more sweetener)
Instructions
Mash the strawberries in the food processor, for a few seconds. If you don’t have one, mash it with a fork, but make sure to do it evenly.
In a bowl, pour the pureed strawberries, Chia seeds and honey and mix well.
Transfer the mixture in a glass jar and place it in fridge for at least 6 hours.
Notes
Keep in mind that frozen fruits will need minimum mashing, or maybe, no mashing at all. You will just have to wait for the fruits to thaw.
And the jam is ready! Serve it for breakfast, mixed with yogurt and cereal, ice cream, desserts, etc.
Instead of strawberries you may use all kind of berries, or cherries (pitted). If you do so, let me know!
Strawberry Jam with Chia seeds can be kept in the fridge in a glass jar for about 3 weeks. Although, it will disappear much faster!
